Fall About The Devils

from Limits of My Language by Chris Taylor

My Tribe! exclusive

about

This week's prompt was "Laying claim"
Strange how I immediately wrote from the perspective of a devil talking to a human being...

lyrics

it was me who laid the traps for every man with no self control
first i grab him by the balls then i stab his weary soul
it was me who filled your women up with insecurity
when they look into the mirror an illusions all they see

the doors are open wide
the doors are open wide

it was you who put that thought in your mind
my best work is keeping things out
i've paved slopes of self delusion
I've built walls made of self doubt
you people feel without action
so keep sitting on the couch
keep sliding down the surface
maybe take the scenic route

the doors are open wide
the doors are open wide

you look around the universe and every trace of him
seems to have up and vanished, gone with the wind
i create suspicion, which creates what it suspects
i am like a two way mirror that warps what it reflects

the doors are open wide
the doors are open wide

solo

the doors are open wide
the doors are open wide
the doors are open wide
the doors are open wide

the future, my dear child, is nothing like eternity
the past is held captive, within a frozen sea
the present is all lit up, with eternal rays
but who out there amount us is laying claim... for today?
