I can't for the life of me recall why we recorded this, but this was also a part of the Edit Point session and I was really charmed by this small Kalimba thumb piano laying around in Donnie's box of miscellaneous percussion items. One of the tines was loose and I remember very specifically that I waited to play that loose it until Mattingly's guitar appears very ominously and dark. This song reminds me of something you might hear in a film just before something really heinous and dark happens. I also remember thinking what a cool name for a song title this was. "Rain Petals". It's perfect for this sort of gloomy, rainy bit. God bless Michael Brook, Brian Eno, and Daniel Lanois. Without these guys, I don't even know what we would have sounded like together. Chance are we would never have lasted long enough to be reminiscing about these songs. ~ Chris Dodds
