I was so happy when we were able to convince the elusive Steve Scott to record the spoken vocals on this track. The music is a powerhouse of killer riffs but I always thought the lyric tried too hard to fit the "Christian Music" genre. It's one thing to follow Christ and write what comes naturally, it's another to be pressured to write more "Christian" oriented themes and lyrics by outside influences. I love the idea of selflessness - which Christ was - but I was too intimidated and insecure to write something more personal and stand my ground on my own writing process to "the powers that be"... Crank it - If only for Steve Scott and Chris Mattingly's killer guitars!
