(Some Approaching Wonder) Look Me in The Eyes

from Chris Taylor Presents: Creatio Ex Nihilo by Chris Taylor

about

Unlike my other albums, this is not a singer/songwriter record meant to be played on an acoustic guitar and harmonica. I went for epic soundscape with this album. I wanted to start things off with a psychedelic meditation in the key of D that was in no hurry to go anywhere. This became (Some Approaching Wonder) because to me... it felt like something majestic is coming. To me, this is what pure worship sounds like.

Broken up by a lonely voice saying "I don't want you to go, I don't want you to go" before a catchy rhythm and lead guitar play with our ears. It's maybe the saddest lyric I ever wrote: "Look me in the eyes when you tell me. I want you to see my heartbreak." But it's in one of the catchiest melodies I've ever sung. This is Look Me In The Eyes.

lyrics

I don't want you to go
I don't want you to go.

Look me in the eyes when you tell me.
I want you to see my heartbreak.
